Sweet Sheba

Well, we just found out that princess Sheba has diabetes. While we were gone back in the U.S. she was having accidents in front of the litter boxes. When we came home she had lost a lot of weight and just did not look like she was feeling good. We thought she was depressed because we were gone for so long, or that the other cats were bothering her. So, I put her in our room with her food and water, and noticed she was consuming large amounts of water. She would finish the whole bowl by morning. That seemed odd to me, and she was still urinating in front of the litter box. I took her to the vet on Friday, and told her what was going on. They did blood work and found that her glucose levels were high. From her symptoms and the blood work they said it was diabetes. We had either a choice to put her down or try the insulin shots. They said that not doing anything would be very painful for her to go through. We decided to do the insulin shots because all of her other blood work was good. She has been on the shots since Saturday, and has been doing fine.Right now I give her two shots a day, one in the morning and the other at night. I hope that within a week or so she gets back to feeling better. The vet said there is a possibility that she could go into remission after being on this insulin for a month. I just hope that will happen with her. We love her so much and don't want her to be in any pain. I have had Sheba for thirteen years!! We hope to get some more with her.

Singapore pics

These are some pictures of downtown Singapore and the Marina Bay area. They are getting ready for the Formula One night race in this downtown area. So, in some of the pictures you will see seats, race lights on the fence, and the track. It is the first ever night race, so Singapore is very excited to host it. It is this coming Saturday night and should be great to watch. The course is on this Marina Bay area into the downtown area. They are also building a resort in the marina bay along with a casino and shopping mall. The completion will be next year sometime for all of that.

Duck Tour

On Friday with Grayden's pre-school we went on a tour, it is called a Ducktour. The reason being is that you go on land and in the water. It goes around the downtown area of Singapore and in the Marina Bay. Grayden was super excited to be on the boat in the water. He sat very still and just took it all in. They gave all the kids these duck whistles to blow in that sound like a duck. Grayden wouldnt stop blowing it for the rest of the day. Seemed like everyone had a good time on the tour. I know that we did!!

Pre-school pics

This week they were learning about boats, and other means of transportation. They were showing the kids what floats and what does not in this picture. Gray wanted to see if the trucks would float or sink. What do you think?

Grayden did very well at bowling, he knocked down all but two!! He was super excited that the ball knocked down the pins, a cause and effect thing ya know.
Sweaty sweaty boy......

First days of school

Grayden started pre-school on Monday. He had a lot of fun, especially when they got to play outside. As soon as we got there he went to the baskets that had the toys in them and picked out a truck to play with. He held on to that truck through the class, only to put it down when we went outside. He then went to the purple car that you could sit in and move your feet to get it to go. He did really well, other than not really paying attention to what the teacher was teaching. He was more interested in playing with the truck on the table or floor. I guess at this age they have such short attention spans to begin with. I am sure that it will take awhile for him to get used to the new environment. He only cried a couple times when he could not find me in sight, he got scared. As soon as he located me it was all okay. I have to stay with him until they let me know that they think he will be okay for me to just drop him off. It will be hard on both of us when that time comes because we are together all the time. I am sure that I will cry if I hear him crying when I am leaving, it is going to be pretty hard. Even if I sneak out I am sure it is still going to be hard on both of us. Oh-well I am not going to think about it now. Just enjoy the time I get to spend with him at the pre-school before it happens.

Pictures will soon come, Brian took the camera to China. So, when he gets back we will download them and post them.

Back Home

We are back in Singapore now, trying to get back on a schedule. We traveled 32 hours to get back home, that is a long journey. Honestly, I don't know how we do it, it does take it's toll on you. Just glad to be home with our kitties. They missed us so much, and were very happy to see us. Poor Sheba lost a lot of weight. I guess she was depressed we were gone, and didn't know why we were not here. I am hoping that she will gain the weight back since we are here with her now. She is thirteen years old now, and old age is kicking in. It has been very rainy since we have returned home, which helps keep the heat down. I guess this is a rainy time here.

Grayden will be starting school next week. He will go twice a week for three and a half hours. I am excited for him to go so he can play and mingle with kids his age. I don't know how excited he will be though, I am sure there will be lots of tears. I stay with him for the first couple of weeks and slowly leave for minutes at a time to see how he does. I guess then once he is adjusted I will drop him off, which may be awhile but we will get there. They are also offering kindermusik on Monday's which exposes them to music and dancing. It is thirty minutes long and will run for ten weeks. I believe that I am going to take him to it, so he can have something else to do, and get out of the house. I will take lots of pictures of my little one on his first day of school, so check back.
